Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Not everybody likes Corey Perry.
I like him for two very specific reasons;
First as a teen, he was very professional in a couple of interview segments, one of which was the 2005 OHL All Star Game in Owen Sound.
And second, there’s no denying his individual impact on greater team success.
Just prior to the 2005 Junior All Star Game, he was a member of Canada’s World Junior Hockey Championship Gold medal winning entry
Just after that 2005 Junior All Star Game, he was part of London’s first Memorial Cup Championship.
In 2007, he was a member of the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks.
In 2010 and again in 2014 he was on the Gold Medal winning Canadian Olympic Hockey teams.
And most recently, he was the Canada’s captain as they won the World Hockey Championship in Russia.
In hockey annals, only Scott Niedermeyer has won more prominent team titles than Perry, a World Cup title the only trophy not on Perry’s resume.
With a rare World Cup of Hockey set for September, you’d think Perry would have been more than a sentimental inclusion for Canada’s team……but apparently not.
You might not like Corey Perry, but you have to respect the list of Championship events he’s been a part of.
I’m Fred Wallace
