Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic…the Logical Choice.
Game 6 of the NBA Eastern Conference Championship goes tonight in Toronto.
The Raptors trail the Cleveland Cavaliers 3 games to 2 in the best of 7 series, a series that has gone far longer than most-in-the-know would have projected.
The big story is how dominant the Cavs have been in Cleveland and how dogged the Raptors are at the Air Canada Centre.
And as an underlying story, the commitment level of a couple of Raptors is being questioned.
DeMarre Carroll and Cory Joseph were reportedly spotted at a Cleveland casino in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the day of the last slaughter at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Did early morning entertainment negatively impact that night’s performance ?
You can debate that all you want.
But as professionals, you’d think there would be more commitment to the task at hand.
With the money a pro athlete makes, you can go to Cleveland and gamble any time you please, as opposed to the early hours on game day.
I’d think it wouldn’t be easy to stay out late at the local casino and then play a crucial basketball playoff game hours later.
I also think it would be tough to let down your team, your fans, your city and your country.
But in one swift move, DeMarre Carroll and Cory Joseph may have done all that and more
I’m Fred Wallace
