Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
I hope everyone had a nice long weekend, certainly warm, maybe not warm enough for a lengthy swim in the bay or the lake, but that day is coming.
Swimming was a topic of much discussion lately with two members of the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Squad earning berths at Rescue 2016, the World Championships set for September in the Netherlands.
Madison Ashton and Maclean Reid who are both members of the Breakers Swim team, qualified for the Worlds at the Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships in Edmonton.
There is a subtle distinction between the two athletes in terms of what they qualified for at Rescue 2016.
Madison Ashton qualified as a Pool Athlete while Maclean Reid qualified as a Beach Athlete for the World event.
Regardless, listening to the criteria involved in both the competition and the qualifying process, it’s easy to understand how challenging these events are and how much training will be involved indoors and outdoors for Madison Ashton and Maclean Reid this Summer as they prepare for Rescue 2016 in September
I’m Fred Wallace
