Bluewater Athletics are an interesting study in changing dynamics.
There was a time when the Spring term was dominated by track and field, climaxing with a huge annual meet at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
However, as the sands of time moved along, Soccer moved from Fall to Spring, Mountain Bike racing came to be, plus Rugby became a highly popular sport, especially for Girls in the Bluewater board.
The most recent arrival to the Bluewater Athletic Spring calendar is Field Lacrosse. And while it’s not conducted at every venue, it’s certainly visible in Owen Sound.
That visibility will be heightened tomorrow at West Hill Secondary in what is essentially an all-Owen Sound showdown for Boys.
The Raiders are hosting the OSCVI Falcons and St Mary’s Mustangs in a 3 school round robin to determine which school advances towards the OFSAA Festival.
There are 3 games tomorrow;
9:30 am Raiders vs Mustangs
11:30 am Falcons vs Mustangs
& 1:30 tomorrow afternoon- Raiders vs Falcons
The winner of tomorrow’s Bluewater round robin will earn the right to host St. David’s in Owen Sound next Tuesday to determine who will advance to Brantford Assumption for the OFSAA Boys Field Lacrosse Festival.
