Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Some big games and some big victories in the last few days.
The Toronto Raptors open their second round NBA playoff against Miami tonight at the ACC.
The Leafs finally won something, scoring the # 1 pick in the NHL Entry Draft via the lottery over the weekend.
And yesterday morning, the Canadian Hockey League announced that the Windsor Spitfires were awarded the hosting rights for the 2017 Memorial Cup.
Good for Windsor. I have no doubt that they’ll do a first rate job as host of the annual Junior Hockey Championship. No doubt, whatsoever.
However, the announcement of the successful Windsor bid ironically came less than a day after I completed my annual OHL folder update.
I have 19 folders, one for each Ontario Hockey League team, featuring a variety of historical facts, figures and general information for broadcast and other purposes.
From this annual folder project, I’m not prepared to say right here and right now that Windsor has the best returning roster for next season in the OHL.
Truthfully, I’m not even sure I’m prepared to say they have the best returning roster in the West Division.
Sault Ste Marie has to fill 3 tiny holes in my estimation.
Sarnia could be dynamite IF everyone returns
And after swinging for the fences at the Priority Selection, how good might Saginaw be ?
Of course, a lot of alterations can happen between now and September, and certainly upgrades can occur between now and May of 2017.
The Windsor Spitfires won the 2017 Memorial Cup bid.
Can Windsor keep winning through next season, all the way to their hosting duties with the Memorial Cup ?
I’m Fred Wallace
