Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
The Ontario Hockey League had 3 Game 7’s last night.
In the Western Conference at Sarnia, the Sting opened the scoring but fell 4-3 to the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds.
Sarnia was the favorite, coming in as the # 2 seed in the West, but the defeat extends the post season miseries of the franchise who have won just 3 playoff series in 21 years.
Meanwhile, there were 2 games in the Eastern Conference.
At Barrie, Justin Scott keyed a 5 goal third period rally with a hat trick as the Colts eliminated Mississauga with a 5-1 win.
Scott scored 10 times in the series
And in North Bay, Mike Amadio, almost as hot as Scott, scored twice to give him 9 in the series, leading the Battalion to a 4-1 win over Peterborough.
All of which sets up the Final 4 in each Conference
In the West; it’s Erie against the Soo and London facing Kitchener.
In the East, it’s Kingston will go against Niagara while the Colts go up against the Battalion
My calls for the Final 4 are; Erie, London, Niagara in the upset and Barrie….
By the way if you’re looking for me, I’ll be at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre and the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre for the next 4 days
The 2016 Canadian Broomball Championships are underway and will swirl their way through round robin play leading to the playoffs on Friday and the Championship Games on Saturday
Keep in mind the Opening Ceremonies are tonight at 7 at the Bayshore followed by a huge game for the Kilsyth Phantoms.
Enjoy the week.
I’m Fred Wallace
