Hi this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire, brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
The local Junior Hockey Playoffs get ramped up with both the Western Junior C Champion Kincardine Bulldogs and the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack primed to open playoff series in their respective leagues.
While both the Bulldogs and the Attack have generated a level of excitement for their followers, the truth for both teams is that the numbers are definitely not in their favor.
Let’s start in Kincardine where the Bulldogs host the Alliston Hornets in the Ontario Junior C Quarterfinals starting tonight at 8:30 pm in the Davidson Centre.
Since 2008, the Hornets have won the Georgian MidOntario League 7 out of 8 years and are 7 & 0 against the Western League Champions, Walkerton, in their head to head quarterfinal series during that span.
If possible, the trend may be more daunting for the Attack who open tomorrow night at London against the Knights.
Historically, Owen Sound is 1 & 4 in playoff series against London.
Furthermore, in the short term of this season, Owen Sound’s best success was in three 3 game win streaks that almost always featured a soft touch in the mix.
The worst sequence for the Attack was a 7 game losing streak that went Barrie-London-London-Hamilton in overtime-Erie in a shootout-Erie again and Kitchener.
I fully understand the playoffs are a whole new season, but the numbers and the trend facing the Bulldogs and the Attack represent a major challenge for both teams.
I’m Fred Wallace
