The new Foodland grocery store in Thornbury is having a grand opening celebration.
Owner Brian Leduc tells Bayshore Broadcasting News his new store location on King Street East enjoyed a ribbon cutting Friday.
The Foodland on the East side of town closes at 6 PM Thursday.
Leduc says the new store has its own organics section, a sushi chef who is in daily and an Italian stone pizza oven.
According to Leduc, 60 per cent of the store is ‘fresh’ with a large portion of the store dedicated to produce.
The location will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.
Leduc the grand opening will take place until around five or six o’clock in the evening, and each department in the new store will have demonstrations and samples.
Some of the services offered at the new store include rug cleaner rentals, water refills, propane exchange, a floral department, deli and a bakery.
Leduc says the store’s butcher shop has a wide variety of meats including elk and bison as well as “humane” antibiotic-free meats from Blue Goose, a company based out of British Columbia that has farms in Ontario, including Canada’s first and only fish farm with organic Aquaculture certification on Manitoulin Island.
Also of note, the new Foodland location in Wiarton is set to open March 18th.
