Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
In a busy week for hockey, albeit with a less than blockbuster NHL Trade Deadline, we’ll keep the theme on that sport heading into the weekend.
The CWOSSA Girls Hockey Tournament concluded earlier this week in Owen Sound.
The Southwood Sabres captured the title holding off the Kincardine Lady Knights 5-3 in the Championship Game.
My question is, with more ice pads than high schools in the future, will Owen Sound be a frequent CWOSSA Hockey host ?
I certainly hope so.
In the Ontario Hockey League tonight, the Owen Sound Attack are at Sudbury to meet the Wolves.
I know I’ll probably jinx it, but since February of 2008, the Attack are 11 & 0 with 2 overtime and 2 shootout losses head to head against Sudbury.
That’s 26 out of a possible 30 points which is amazing and really tells you a couple of tales.
And finally, the Regional Junior C Finals begin this weekend with the Walkerton Hawks hosting the Kincardine Bulldogs in Game 1 of the Western Final while Penetanguishene and Alliston will meet in the Georgian MidOntario Junior C Final
This is the 4th Walkerton-Kincardine Final. The Bulldogs have been to the League Final 14 times while Walkerton has won the title 7 of the last 8 years.
For the Hornets and Kings, this too is a frequent matchup, dating back to the late 70’s when they used to meet on a regular basis in the OHA Quarterfinals.
Have a great hockey weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
