Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
I caught up to Larisa Yurkiw on the phone last week, she was somewhere in the Collingwood region taking a quick break from a ” meeting “.
While she wouldn’t elaborate on what the ” meeting ” pertained to, but I think it’s a fair guess on my part to assume it related to either the fabulous competitive results she’s put up this season or the business of funding her competition on the World Cup ski circuit. Or both.
The interview came after 2 exceptional runs in World Cup downhill races in Italy; first a 9th place finish, then a day later a 4th.
Going back to Lake Louise in early December, Yurkiw has been in the top 10 nine times.
Those are the kind of results that get attention.
Attention from the competition.
Attention from the media ( no longer is CFOS the most persistent caller )
And surely attention from corporate Canada.
During the course of our quick chat, Larisa Yurkiw related she derived pleasure from her solid results because she believes it will create a foundation for future skiers to build on in the years ahead.
And I believe that.
But I believe the primary focus, if not the reason for the ” meeting “, was to map out a plan for the World Championships this month at St Moritz plus maybe, just maybe, look ahead to the Olympic games come 2018 in South Korea.
I’m Fred Wallace
