Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Your local Auto Logic..the Logical Choice.
For the first time ever, the Owen Sound Aquatic Club hosted the Huronia Short Course Regional Championships
The significance here, cannot be understated.
A weekend at home, during high school exams, without travel, plus the competitive benefit of sleeping in your own bed- that’s a win-win-win-win combination.
We’ve talked before about the value of the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre and the pool complex, and this is a splashing example of its positive impact for the Aquatic Club and the community.
Of note from the Aquatic Club, Joanne Diemert and the fabulous Boulter Brothers; James and William qualified for the Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships at Montreal next week.
Meanwhile, Lauren Anstett, Mark Sgro, and Quentin Rodgers earned the right to represent Owen Sound at the Ontario Festival Championships running at the same time.
Rodgers, who I understand is just 11 years old, certainly made a statement by beating the qualifying standard by 10 seconds in his FIRST attempt in the 200 butterfly.
There were other great results of course, but with the provincial and Eastern Canadian Championships on the near horizon and the annual McDonald’s Canadian Record Challenge set for April, these are exciting days for the Owen Sound Aquatic Club
I’m Fred Wallace
