Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The weekend is here and it’s a special one for sports for a variety of factors.
Saugeen Shores and area will be booming with the annual Caitlyn Cobean Tournament.
Meanwhile. there’s Senior Hockey Playoff action tonight at Saugeen Shores with the Winterhawks hosting Durham in the opener of their best of 7. The Thundercats actually finished higher in the regular season, so Durham will get home ice for games 2,3, 5 & 7.
The Shallow Lake Crushers open at Drayton tonight with Game 2 tomorrow night back in Shallow Lake.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Junior C Playoffs. There’s games tonight in Hanover and Kincardine in the Western Junior C league.
Meanwhile, of personal interest in the Georgian MidOntario League, the Penetanguishene Kings and Midland Flyers commence their series tonight in Midland. The two teams, separated by 3 miles will play 3 games in 2 & 1/2 days. Trust me, that’s a meaningful matchup.
In regular season OHL play, the Owen Sound Attack meet the Knights tonight at the Budweiser Gardens. Owen Sound has not won in London since February 8th, 2013.
Tomorrow, the Attack host their first-ever ” Heartbeats and Hockey Sticks ” game when they host Guelph.
And of course at the end of the weekend, Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara will pit the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
