Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
It really sneaks up on you, doesn’t it ?
I’m not talking about Christmas, I’m talking about the 2016 Canadian Broomball Championship Tournament in Owen Sound.
It seems like two weeks ago, the local committee was successfully hosting the Ontario Championship Tournament and were making their bid to host the Nationals.
Well, the Canadian Championship Tournament is still 4 months away. but the wheels are very much in motion.
The primary activity in the short term is the confirmation of teams attending and the scheduling for the event which runs April 6th-9th at both the Lumley-Bayshore & the McArthur Rec Centre.
What is known is very encouraging.
In the Men’s division, the Palmerston Rookies, Ottawa Nationals and the local hosts; the Phantoms are entered and are candidates to take the title.
The Women’s Division is somewhat in flux with the potential of a separate division for non-contact conceivably boosting the numbers.
And finally, the Coed Division hosted by the local Heads or Tails squad should have 6 to 8 teams competing.
So while time is slipping away and there are some unknowns for the event, what is known is very encouraging for the 2016 Canadian Broomball Championships in Owen Sound.
I’m Fred Wallace
