The World Cup Ski circuit is in Val D’Isere, France this weekend.
On Friday in the Ladies Super-combined, Lara Gut of Switzerland was the race winner.
Owen Sound skier Larisa Yurkiw is among those competing.
Yurkiw had a ” DNS ” result today, which is not unusual as Yurkiw normally skips the the slalom aspect of the Super-combined competition.
Often, Yurkiw will ski in the downhill portion of the Super-combined and then pass on the slalom as slalom is not a specialty for her.
Saturday, the stand-alone downhill race will be staged and Yurkiw is scheduled to compete in that event.
Earlier this week, Yurkiw a graduate of West Hill Secondary in Owen Sound, was the quickest in training for the downhill race at Val d’Isere.
This is the 2nd World Cup event of the year for Yurkiw.
At Lake Louise, Alberta earlier this month, Yurkiw posted 2 top 15 finishes along with a 7th place finish in the downhill
