Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ”
In rapid fashion a number of fastball related items have been clarified, plus in truth, it appears the 2016 season in Owen Sound will be more vibrant than initially anticipated.
The 2016 Softball Canada Bantam Boys Championship was awarded to the Owen Sound Fastpitch Association quite some time ago.
However, as we documented in this space, there was no ” host ” team in place for the tournament which runs August 10th to the 14th.
The host issue has been decided and, as some whispered from the get-go, the Shallow Lake Sting will gain the automatic berth and host the National U16 Tournament at Duncan McLellan Park.
On top of that clarification, it was also announced the Ontario Bantam Championship Tournament will also be in Owen Sound the weekend of July 30th & 31st.
Furthermore, on July 12th, the touring Australian Men’s team will pay a visit to Duncan McLellan Park to face a local Junior team in an exhibition matchup.
And finally, it’s also been confirmed that the Provincial Women’s Softball Association will conduct the Tier II Intermediate championship tournament in Owen Sound August 5th-7th between the two Bantam Boys tournaments
So in very short order, a lot has been confirmed and the fastball season in Owen Sound for 2016 will be quite active.
I’m Fred Wallace
