Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
As always, there’s a busy weekend ahead of us, highlighted by the annual Kiwanis Santa Claus Parade in Owen Sound.
Among the activities I’m planning to take in, the Girls Hockey Showcase for the Owen Sound Ice Hawks.
If you’re my age, at least in my town, there were precious few sporting activities for girls, outside of figure skating.
Now, some 40 years later, there are numerous sporting opportunities including the Girls Hockey program in Owen Sound.
The Ice Hawks have emerged from humble beginnings to the point where they operate a number of entries in a variety of age divisions.
Each of those Ice Hawk teams will have a game on Sunday at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre to showcase both the sport and the organization.
The lineup for the day starts at noon with the Novice C Ice Hawks facing Saugeen Shores.
Following in order, the Ice Hawk Atoms meet Orillia, the Peewee Ice Hawks take on Oakville, the Bantam ” A ” Girls meet North Halton and finally, the Bantam ” C ” Ice Hawks are up against Kincardine.
That’s a busy schedule on what should be a proud day as the Owen Sound Ice Hawks host their annual Showcase Day at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
I’m Fred Wallace
