Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
It’s been a week, but a very good buzz still exists from the Ontario Hockey League-Russia game at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre on November 12th.
And truthfully, precious little of the buzz pertains to the actual game.
There was nothing overtly wrong with the game, the talent level was likely the highest we’ll see on the playing surface all year.
But I can say in total confidence it was not the best game, certainly not the most exciting game we’ve seen, or likely will see this year at the Lum.
But it did have its moments.
A great crowd, virtually a full house, on a Thursday night.
Both Thomas Schemitsch and Damir Sharipzyanov of the Attack noted after the game how special the reaction of the crowd to their names made them feel.
In the crowd were all kinds of prominent faces, from OHL Commissioner Dave Branch up to General Managers and top personnel from various NHL clubs.
Agree or disagree on whether it was a great game, in my view it was a great night for the CHL, for the OHL, for Sportsnet, for the Attack, for the city of Owen Sound…for almost everybody except those who speak Russian.
I’m Fred Wallace
