Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Is there anything better than a good surprise or an ongoing mystery in the sports world ?
Such is the case with the 2016 Canadian Under 16 Boys Fastball Tournament set for August in Owen Sound.
As is the case with every Softball Canada event, there is a always a ” host ” team representing the ” host ” centre or ” host ” organization.
To this point, the 2016 Bantam Championship Tournament at Duncan McLellan Park has no such designated host team.
Curious.
There are two schools of thought here;
# 1) the Owen Sound Fastpitch Association has already approached a host team from the region but are keeping the announcement quiet in order to avoid a sense of complacency. That is, if a young ballplayer KNOWS he’s going to the National Championship, why expend extra effort to get where you’re already going ?
and #2) the Owen Sound Fastpitch Association hasn’t named a host team because they’re buying time to scour the woods and see if they can create their own, Owen Sound based entry for the tournament. At this point, to my knowledge, no such team exists, but in fastball circles, teams can materialize in very short order.
So has a host team been approached already ?
Or is a host team in the process of being constructed ?
A little mystery well in advance of the Canadian U16 Fastball Championships in August in Owen Sound.
I’m Fred Wallace
