Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
There can be no better example of a sports team being a second class citizen than the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
It was widely announced this week that the Argos would be returning ” home ” to the Rogers Centre for the remainder of the season.
On the season, 3 times, THREE TIMES, the Argos were bumped from the dome due to the baseball playoffs.
Sure the Blue Jays’ run to the post season was terrific, but for the Jays, it’s happened once in 22 years.
The Argos by comparison, basically over the same 22 year stretch, have been the CFL Champions 5 times.
And yet the Argos found themselves playing home games in Ottawa and at Hamilton twice.
Brutal.
Locally, the Bluewater Football League Semifinals are set for tomorrow afternoon in Owen Sound.
At West Hill Secondary School, the Raiders who went 4 & 0 in the regular season host the Saugeen District Royals.
Meanwhile, in the 2-3 game, the OSCVI Falcons host the St Mary’s Mustangs.
Of course the winners of the semifinal games advance to the Championship Final next Friday.
Game time tomorrow for the final 4 games is 2 pm at both West Hill and O.S……..unless there’s a playoff baseball game at either school.
I’m Fred Wallace
