Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
It’s been a beautiful week for golf and I hope you’ve had a chance to play the local courses, all of which should be in prime form for the Fall season.
Out of Meaford, Chevy Rennie confirmed this week that he will be turning pro in 2016, competing on both the Mandarin Tour and the Great Lakes Tour beginning in May.
Rennie, who is university student at Laurier in Waterloo, believes this step is a natural progression on the lengthy path he wants to travel.
As part of his 2016 plan, he’ll try some Web.com events and, while it’s a major longshot, he also plans to tee it up at a U.S. Open qualifier….think ” Tin Cup “.
The early travels of a pro golfer are lonely….and expensive.
To that end, Rennie relates he’s been well supported locally by both Ivan and Mary at Meaford Golf & Country along with the ownership and staff at Lora Bay.
Furthermore, he’s also managed to secure sponsorships from both Taylormade and Adidas Golf and to do so, you’d think his play has obviously made a positive impression.
Rennie says his victory at the Ontario Amateur Qualifier at Cobble Beach, along with his play while attempting to make the Canadian Open through a qualifier, justified his decision.
So for now, Chevy Rennie is a university student. Come May, he will be a pro golfer.
I’m Fred Wallace
