Contrary to a closing sign posted on the door this week, Superburger in Shelburne is not permanently closing.
The owners of the iconic burger restaurant, located on Highway 10, posted a sign on the door saying “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Superburger will permanently close its doors on September 16th, 2015”.
This after a recent announcement that the owner was doing away with the iconic TTC streetcar turned dining car that was connected to the building.
But the closure isn’t permanent.
Owners say they’re just closing the old location for about three months, while they construct a brand new Superburger on the same lot — just behind the current location.
So the old Superburger served its last order on Tuesday, even running out of burgers before the end of the day.
Superburger has had an ongoing duel for years with rival Champburger, located right across the street.
Owners say the new Superburger will cost about $700,000 to build.
No official date for reopening was given.
