Hi this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire…..brought to you by Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
In June I went on a YMT Vacation, ostensibly it was an Alaskan Cruise.
And while the Alaskan portion of the junket was fabulous with stunning scenery and multiple activities, it was the bookends of the trip that gave me the most pleasure.
The Norwegian Jewel both sailed and returned to the port of Seattle, which gave me just enough wiggle room to get to Safeco Field the night before we departed and to return to Safeco the evening we returned from sailing.
The first episode was Friday May 29th and sitting 9 rows behind the plate, I watched in admiration as Taijuan Walker dominated Cleveland with a 2 hit shutout through 8 innings, before vaunted reliever Fernando Rodney extinguished his own fire and nailed down a 2-1 win.
By the time I returned to Safeco on Saturday June 6th, the Mariners had lost 7 straight.
On this night in front of 31,000 in the ” King’s Court “, Felix Hernandez went 7 innings of 2 hit ball, and the Mariners snapped their losing skid with a 2-1 victory over Tampa Bay.
Safeco Field was a great experience, both nights, and I could hardly wait til the next portion of the ” Alaska ” trip, which was 2 nights in San Francisco, home of the World Series Champion Giants.
I’ll tell you about that experience tomorrow.
I’m Fred Wallace
