Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
August is filled with Championship events in fastball.
In Owen Sound, the Men’s League playoffs opened last night and will continue through a double knockout format on Mondays and Wednesdays at Duncan McLellan Park leading to the Championship Game, or Games, on Monday August 31st.
Tonight in Allenford, the Grey Bruce ladies fastball League playoffs commence. with the final game or games set for August 21st.
Of course, the biggest event in Men’s fastball is the ISC World Tournament hosted in South Bend, Indiana this year.
Play commences Saturday and runs for one week leading to the crowning of a 2015 World Champion.
In terms of Canadian Champions, four National events are already underway including the Junior Women’s.
Next week, the Junior Men’s and Midget Boys championships commence at Napanee and Fredericton respectively.
And at the end of the month, Ste-Claire, Quebec will host the Canadian Men’s Championship Tournament.
In all of those championship tournaments, from Owen Sound to Allenford to South Bend to Ste-Claire, there are players from our region competing.
I’ve heard for 30 years that fastball is dying. Could be. But I doubt the funeral will be staged in August.
I’m Fred Wallace
