It was good weekend and a bad weekend depending on which sport in the region we’re talking about.
The best of the weekend was the Ontario Girls Field Lacrosse Tournaments at the Kiwanis Complex.
The Owen Sound Lady NorthStars won the silver medal in the Under 11 Division and Owen Sound also won bronze in the Under 13 Division.
The worst of the weekend was the elimination of the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars from the Ontario Lacrosse Playoffs.
The NorthStars were swept in 2 straight by Oakville and knocked out of the post season.
The curiosity is that Owen Sound led the opening game 5-3 at home relatively late in the second period.
Oakville, like Roger Ramjet swallowing a Proton Energy Pill, then reeled of 17 consecutive goals to take the opener 12-5 and grab an 8-0 lead the following night before Owen Sound responded.
Also not so good a weekend for Grey Motors United who lost both Ontario Soccer Association games on the road.
And the news isn’t great pertaining to the coaching and hockey staff of the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League…unless you’re looking for a job.
