Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Major League All Star Game goes tonight in Cincinnati.
No matter how much attention the fan voting process generates, no matter how much Sportsnet tries to publicize the significance of the All Star Game, and no matter what the results were last night in the Home Run Derby….I’m seldom interested in the affair.
I will say this, my interest in Major League Baseball has been revived to a certain degree.
It might be hitting ballparks in Seattle and Oakland in May & June reminded me how much I used to be into the game and how special a trip to a live game can be.
It might be the fact the Blue Jays are seriously contending for a playoff spot for the first time in decades that’s rekindled the interest.
Or maybe there’s precious little else taking place, and so, by default, I’ve found baseball to be more relevant than many other summers.
American League at National League tonight, home field in the World Series at stake.
Okay, I’m somewhat interested, but I’ll be more attuned when play resumes on Friday.
I’m Fred Wallace
