The Saugeen Rail Trail is Celebrating Canada Day and the trail’s Silver Jubilee this weekend.
On Saturday, the Saugeen Rail Trail (SRT) will have a variety of family friendly activities including face painting, a scavenger hunt, flip flop race and other games and exhibits.
There will also be a complimentary snack and drink.
The event starts at 11:30 AM, but those who want to bike or walk the trail to the festivities have the option of starting at a number of meeting points at 10 AM and making their way to the Rail Trail station.

There will be a prize draw at Noon.
You can enter to win prizes donated by local businesses and health practitioners, including a Cruiser Bike and helmet from Martin’s Bicycle Shop, WalMart gift certificates, Dinner for Two Lord Elgin’s Restaurant in Port Elgin, and Dinner for Two at the Elk and Finch restaurant in Southampton.
The Rail Trail Association is made up of volunteers and user organizations who maintain and operate the trail.
The Saugeen Rail Trail is built on an old railway line and connects Southampton and Port Elgin.
