The Collingwood Fire Department is getting some funding to go towards training.
Enbridge Gas Distribution announced at Monday’s Council meeting that the Collingwood Fire Department has been chosen as one of 20 departments in Ontario to receive funding this year to purchase training equipment though the Fire Marshall’s Public Fire Safety Council.
Fire Chief Trent Elyea received a cheque for $5,000 at the meeting.
Also at this meeting, council approved an agreement for automatic aid to Clearview Township Fire for an area from the 10th Line on Sixth Street to the end of Sixth across Grey Road 19 to Poplar Sideroad and back down.
This means that Collingwood firefighters would respond to a call if they can get to the area faster than Clearview firefighters can.
