Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
One of the ongoing hockey debates is about the relative value of Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.
There are many that believe Ovechkin is a detriment to his team, a goal scorer who seldom scores come playoff time, as exhibited by his lack of Stanley Cups
For the record, I’m a big fan of Ovechkin, always have been.
He’s been an exciting player and continues to dazzle after a decade of competition.
Regardless of which side of the Ovechkin debate you’re on, there’s no denying he can score
In late March, he scored his 50th of the season marking the sixth time in his career that he’s sunk 50 in the NHL.
Historically, only 5 other players have accomplished 50 that many times……FIVE
Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy both did it 9 times while Mario Lemieux, Marcel Dionne and Guy Lafleur all did it on six occasions.
Gretzky. Bossy. Lemieux. Dionne. Lafleur. And now Ovechkin.
That’s select company, & to me the best illustration why Ovechkin truly is the Great 8.
I’m Fred Wallace
