Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off The Wire, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice
Today is a BIG Day.
I say that in light of a recent conversation with Nordic skier Julian Smith from Oxenden.
Smith was selected to be a member of Canada’s National Junior Nordic team, a selection he relates was fully expected.
That’s not vanity nor gloating; Smith truly believes his inclusion on the National Junior team is part of a natural process in his development, a process that has involved a great deal of work.
To that end, I asked what his next big event was.
His simple response was, ” today “.
In the world of Julian Smith, every day is a big day, no matter whether you’re competing or training.
He trains every day, so that by the time race day comes he knows his preparation has been thorough and complete.
Sure, there are days that he doesn’t want to run, doesn’t want to train, and would rather remain glued to the couch.
But Julian Smith battles that urge with the secure knowledge that once he starts his routine he’ll feel infinitely better and not waste a day, a very big day indeed.
I’m Fred Wallace
