Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off The Wire, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice
So here’s my theory….
Beginning in 2002, the Robertson Cup for the Ontario Hockey League Championship had been won 12 out of 13 years by the Western Conference representatives, the lone interruption was Peterborough in 2006.
I fully expected Sault Ste Marie to win the Championship this year, and when they were knocked out by Erie, I fully expected the Otters to claim the crown.
However, to the credit of the Oshawa Generals, they won the 2015 Championship in all honesty, did so in convincing fashion.
So what happened to the West over East streak ?
Here’s my thesis………………
Erie, with an already solid lineup, bolstered their team through the year by acquiring Nicholas Baptiste, Remi Elie and Jake Marchment; all good players……..all from the EAST.
Oshawa, with an equally solid lineup, bolstered their team through the year by acquiring Brent Pedersen, Matt Mistele, Michael McCarron and Dakota Mermis; all good players……all from the WEST.
So the East won the Championship assisted by acquisitions from the West defeating the West who had enhanced their lineup with players from the East.
I’m probably stretching, but it is an interesting theory, isn’t it ?
I’m Fred Wallace
