Hi this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire…brought to you by Auto Logic, the LOGICAL Choice.
A short week is often a big week.
It’s certainly a big night for the Owen Sound Bluewater Selects as they open the fastball season at home tonight against the Port Elgin Blue Devils.
The 2015 season for the Selects will be primarily spent playing on week nights, leaving the weekends open for their players to play for other clubs at other events; some big, other really big.
But the Selects roster for Bluewater is an imposing one, starting with their pitching combination of Frank Cox, Mike Roote & Caleb Keeshig.
Cox is a veteran with decades behind him and not that far removed from being an elite pitcher.
Roote has been a prominent hurler from minor ball onwards .
And Keeshig is a war horse who’s capable of throwing both ends of a doubleheader at this level.
With that kind of pitching, are the Selects a lock to dominate ?
They don’t think so, citing a perpetual threat in the Blue Devils who they host tonight, plus solid teams at Wiarton & Elmwood who can play it tight.
Game time tonight for the Selects & Blue Devils is 8:30 pm at Duncan McLellan Park.
The Big Week for the Selects continues Thursday when they visit the Saugeen Thunderbirds.
I’m Fred Wallace
