The Owen Sound Garb & Gear-Coldwell Banker Junior B NorthStars play their home opener tonight when they host the Guelph Regals.
The Regals, who got smoked Monday night at Orangeville have a record of 1 & 4 and sit 2 points up on Owen Sound.
The Junior NorthStars by comparison have started the season at 0 & 3 after back to back to back road games, losing 10-7 at Hamilton, 14-9 at Orangeville & 8-6 at Elora.
The game tonight is a pivotal one on many levels for Owen Sound.
In fairness, they’ve been close in all 3 games, but in lacrosse, close counts for very little.
Second, tonight is a divisional game and Owen Sound needs the points lest other divisional rivals quickly relegate the Junior NorthStars to a wild card chase.
Third, the opponent tonight is Guelph, and recent history illustrates whoever wins these head to heads has the best chance for the post season.
And finally, a win tonight would be a significant statement on home floor as this home game is but a brief stop, with 2 more road games at Windsor & London ahead this weekend.
