I’ve never been a big fan of going to the dentist. I don’t know of anyone who is.
Regardless, on my last junket, Dr Ross applied the freezing and while we waited for it to take effect in my mouth, out of a unique shoe box, he pulled his hockey cards.
Hockey cards from the 1970’s featuring some of the greatest stars of the era; Guy Lafleur, Marcel Dionne & a dandy of Bobby Orr on a Blackhawks card.
While the Bobby Orr-Blackhawks card likely has some value, what I believe was the real treasure in the collection, was the 40 or so cards from the World Hockey Association.
Of course, there was Bobby Hull of the Jets, Frank Mahovlich of the Toros, the 3 Howes of Houston, along with guys you’ve NEVER heard of, plus cards with players in the jerseys of the Chicago Cougars, the Indianapolis Racers and the Blazers, although I couldn’t tell if they were Philadelphia Blazers or Vancouver Blazers.
Looking at the cards, Dr Ross & I laughed at the memories, especially of the WHA segment. We laughed & laughed, until he sunk the needle into the freezing.
