Grey Bruce has a unique curling league; last season known as the Ackert-Solomon Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League.
The Don Bartley rink from the Tara Curling Club won the 2015 Championship after 13 weeks of round robin play & 3 rounds of playoffs.
Winning that kind of title over that span of time is significant enough, but speaking with Bartley afterwards, he says the length of time is far more significant when you consider he and several of his rink mates have been chasing the Grey Bruce title for almost a decade & a half.
The Major Curling League is competitive and balanced with a different champion emerging year after year over the last 5 seasons.
Could this format work at the Junior level in Grey Bruce ?
A movement is afoot to run a Major Junior Curling loop in conjunction with the Major League.
The initiative is designed to both enhance Junior Curling in our region with more competition and hopefully, keep potential elite junior curlers in the region representing Zone 11 clubs rather than heading out of region to compete.
