Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
Owen Sound netminder Curtis Sanford officially announced his retirement from pro hockey.
In typical Curtis Sanford fashion, the announcement wasn’t elaborate or grandiose.
Instead, he confirmed the decision from the driver’s seat of his vehicle, while in the process of trucking his boys off to one function or another, making the announcement to an audience of 1, a local radio announcer who happened to be roaming along the East Bayshore Road.
During the question & answer session of the announcement, Curtis Sanford quickly related his career highlight was his first NHL game when an injury to the starter quickly pressed him into action for the St Louis Blues in a victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Content with his decision to retire, Sanford relates his health is very much in order, and while there’s stiffness and the odd ache, there’s nothing he can’t manage physically.
And finally, for the future……Curtis Sanford is aiming to coach Peewee Hockey in the short term, with a keen & eager eye towards professional coaching opportunities in the long run.
I’m Fred Wallace
