Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
The Major League Baseball season opened yesterday at Wrigley Field with the Chicago Cubs hosting the St Louis Cardinals
Like a lot of aspects of Major League Baseball, I liked the ” old ” tradition of having the Cincinnati Reds play the first game of the Major League season, but I guess Sunday Night Baseball, ESPN and the American dollar carry more clout than tradition
For all intents and purposes today is Opening Day and that includes the Toronto Blue Jays who open the season with 3 divisional games at New York and 3 more in Baltimore to open Week 1.
The Blue Jays are in a 20 plus year drought, having not won the World Series, captured a division nor made the playoffs since 1993.
Is this the year for Toronto’s return to the post season ?
Yes, it is. On Opening Day every Blue Jay supporter will tell you that.
Of course the fans in every other Major League Ball Park will tell you likewise. That’s what Spring Training and Opening Day are for.
Reality starts tomorrow.
Do I truly think the Jays will win or even contend ?
No.
Sorry.
In baseball and in business- which baseball certainly has morphed into, the trend is your friend, and the Blue Jays trend for more than 20 years has not been moving upwards to October.
Enjoy the season.
I’m Fred Wallace
