Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
Game 3 of the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference Quarterfinal between the Guelph Storm & the Owen Sound Attack is set for tonight at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
The best of 7 is tied at 1 win apiece after the opening two games at the Sleeman Centre- the Attack scoring a surprising 6-1 victory in Game 1, and the Storm rebounding to take the second contest 5-4 in overtime.
I think the 2nd game is far more reflective of what we have here.
Guelph led 2-0. The Attack led 3-2. The Storm led 4-3. The Attack tied it. This creates the impression that we’re in for a back & forth series.
The Storm, obviously needing the victory in Game 2, got come thorough performances from their veterans; Tyler Bertuzzi scored 3 goals, Jason Dickinson had another & overage Chris Marchese sank the game winner.
Interestingly, the 6 Storm goals in the series have been scored by just 3 players; none of whom is named Robbie Fabbri.
By comparison, the 10 Attack goals have been scored by 9 players; none of whom are named Zach Nastasiuk or Petrus Palmu
So in my view, the 6-1 affair was a blip on the radar and we can expect a lot more of the game 2 style of play with some big shooters destined to break out.
See you tonight at 7
I’m Fred Wallace
