Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
These are exciting times in the universe of teenage sports.
Seemingly every day, there’s another major event or a fascinating story about a young athlete or team from the broadcast region.
Today for example, the Walkerton District Lady Riverhawks are at the OFSAA Curling Championship @ Brighton, Stirling, and Trenton
Still with OFSAA, the ” A ” Boys Basketball Tournament commences at @ Pain Court with the Georgian Bay Vikings from Meaford playing this afternoon against North Middlesex
You’ll never confuse these OFSAA events with the Brier or the NBA, but don’t tell me they’re not big events for those schools and those communities.
Similarly, another GBSS athlete, Hannah Woodhouse has barely returned from an international cross country meet in Colombia and shortly departs to run at the World Championships in China.
Plus, I’ve had great chats in the last few days with James Beck & Rod Bottrell of the West Hill Raiders Nordic Ski team and a delightful interview with Brittany Stephens regarding her pending departure to Findlay University for a field lacrosse scholarship.
But no matter where these athletes and teams go…..it all starts here, at the grassroots level, something Brittany Stephens illustrated when asked to describe the growth of Owen Sound Girls Field Lacrosse……
