It’s a unique time of the year where almost every Minor Hockey program has reached its climax, no matter what level of play or what campaign we’re talking about.
Here’s four quick examples.
Tonight in Chesley, the SCTA Minor Midget Semifinal commences with the Grey Bruce Snowmobiles Unlimited Highlanders taking on Milton
The 6 point series begins tonight at 7 pm in Chesley and returns for Game 3 Sunday at 1 pm, and maybe Game 5 on March 7th.
On Saturday afternoon in Chesley, the Van Wyk Crane Bantam Highlightders open their 6 point series at 4 pm when they host Southern Tier.
Meanwhile at the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre this weekend, the Grey-Bruce Highlanders will be hosting the SCTA Peewee Tournament.
Eleven teams from the league are entered and the Highlanders are in Pool ” B “.
Grey Bruce will play twice on Saturday; they’ll meet Southern Tier at 11 am & Hamilton at 5 pm, then play two more games Sunday; first against Brampton at 9 am & then wrap the weekend against Burlington at 3 pm
And equally as significant, the OMHA Midget ” A ” Semifinals commence this weekend at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
The Owen Sound Crescent Club Attack will host games 1 & 2 of the semifinal against the Riverside Rangers.
Game time Saturday is 1:15 pm
Game time Sunday is 1:30 pm
And the Crescents fully understand that by losing the coin toss, they need to make a strong statement in the opening two matches this weekend
And one other Minor Hockey note……
Theres an online auction at www.owensoundminorhockey.com.
Proceeds are for the ” Ice Magic ” program, which is the starter campaign for any player who wants to play at length, be it for the Junior Attack or the Triple A Highlanders.
Among the items available are Leaf Tickets……..okay, fair enough.
The online auction closes next Thursday, March 5th @ 9 pm.
