Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
It’s that time of the Ontario Hockey League season to play with the numbers.
The Owen Sound Attack, at this moment, are 6th in the Western Conference with 55 points in 49 games.
Naturally, the Attack want to move up the standings, certainly with the widespread belief that whoever finishes 7th or 8th will have a very short playoff life, destined to meet either Sault Ste Marie or Erie in Round 1.
Is it doable ?
Yes,………………….But it certainly won’t be easy.
The Attack have 19 games remaining, of which 11 are against Erie, Barrie & Guelph.
To this point, in 9 previous games against the Otters, Colts & Storm, Owen Sound is 2 & 7……………….2 & 7.
Furthermore, looking at the opposition for the Attack in the final quarter of the season, only 3 games are against squads that are sub .500; Peterborough, Plymouth & Saginaw- and even the Spirit are just barely under .500
So, examining the numbers and the trends, the Attack, who are 6th in the Western Conference, will have to play some exceptional hockey down the stretch in order to stay there or rise in the rankings.
The first game in the stretch run is tonight at 7 when they host Barrie at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
I’m Fred Wallace
