After an active weekend, we’ve got ourselves an active week in front of us; especially in the world of curling.
There are 2 significant provincial championships set to commence tomorrow, plus the resumption of the local Grey-Bruce Major League is also on tomorrow’s calendar.
At the Ontario Curling Association level…………..
The Pepsi Junior Men’s Championship opens at Galt
Tyler Twining, who’s a member at Owen Sound Blue Water, is skipping a rink from Paris, Ontario.
That rink opens tomorrow afternoon against Doug Kee from Rideau.
Also entered in the 8 rink Junior Men’s playdown is Graham Singer from the Curling Club of Collingwood.
The Singer rink faces Mac Calwell of Quinte in the opening draw.
Meanwhile in Stirling, Ontario tomorrow, the Tim Hortons Masters Men’s Championship opens.
Dave Cobean of the Port Elgin Curling Club qualified for the event and will play his opening match at 1 Wednesday afternoon against Bob Turcotte from Scarborough.
The Cobean rink includes Les Shane, Jerry Swartz & Fred Fleet, which in turn will have a minor impact on the Ackert-Solomon Insurance-Grey Bruce Major Curling League, as those skips and players will be absent.
After the Christmas break, league play resumes tomorrow at Tara & at Walkerton.
As 2015 opens, Jeff Thomson of Chesley & Blue Water’s Al Hutchinson share the lead at 7 & 1.
Thomson is ” scheduled ” to meet Les Shane in Walkerton while Hutchinson will play at Tara against Wade Walsh.
The GMHL All Star game goes tonight in Meaford & then tomorrow, it’s big time curling everywhere.
