The first weekend in December brings a variety of sporting activities to focus on.
In World Cup skiing, Lake Louise, Alberta is the venue this weekend.
Yesterday in training, Owen Sound skier Larisa Yurkiw was 41st in the downhill, a result she’s looking to upgrade both today & tomorrow with official World Cup events
Three weeks ago, Yurkiw had both a top 20 & a top 5 in FIS Super G races at Copper Mountain in Colorado, so she definitely knows where the finish line is.
Meanwhile, the junior hockey season hits the midpoint at almost every level, and with Christmas on the horizon there are a number of built in fundraisers and attractions.
Tomorrow afternoon in Hanover, the Barons are hosting Kincardine with a rare 2 pm start. The game at the Honda Arena will be the Barons Teddy Bear Toss game.
Plus, the Owen Sound Attack go home & home with the Kitchener Rangers this weekend- tonight at the Aud in Kitchener, then tomorrow night in Owen Sound with the Toonies and Toys promotion plus the ongoing Investors Group ” Attack Hunger ” campaign.
Good hockey at every level and some significant community activities tied in.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
