A Hanover Craft Beer company is in full swing, and held a soft Grand Opening on Friday.
MacLean’s Ales has been producing beer since June and now has a retail store as well as a hospitality room open at the brewery on 14th Avenue in Hanover.
Co-owner and Sales and Marketing Manager Curtis Schmalz says they produce something like 10,000 litres of beer a month now.
The company has Pale Ale, Farmhouse Blonde, IPA, Scotch Ale and Oatmeal Stout brands.
Queens Park helped to expand the craft beer operation in Hanover.
Nearly $500,000 came from the “Local Food Fund” this spring to allow MacLean’s Ales to build a 5,600 square foot state-of-the-art brewing facility to increase production and expand clientele.
The new facility is boosting production ten-fold over a five-year period.
Schmalz says they currently have five full time and two part time workers, with that total expected to expand in the near future.
MacLean’s Pale Ale is available at over 80 LCBO outlets, and in over 100 bars across Ontario.
Schmalz says they try to use as much local ingredients as possible, with hops from Meaford and Ontario malted barley.
