The good folks from Rogers ” Hometown Hockey ” were in Owen Sound yesterday preparing and doing preview shots for the January 4th edition of the program.
In a nutshell, the ” Hometown Hockey ” program features an NHL game and views it from a Canadian community linking the location with the NHL in a unique outreach program.
Rogers will be in Owen Sound on the weekend of January 3rd & 4th, climaxing their on-site perspective from the city with Ron MacLean while the Tampa Bay Lightning are in Ottawa meeting the Senators.
Obviously, there are Owen Sound & Grey County connections to the Senators; Chris Neil, Bobby Ryan, Cody Ceci…..
But what the producers were most interested in were the Owen Sound hockey stories, stories that linked the city to the game and showcased the value & appeal of grassroots hockey.
I gave them a couple of obvious selections based on the past three decades, but in the history of the city and it’s connection to the sport, I’m no expert.
Which leads me to ask you…’ what would be a great Owen Sound hockey story to feature on the Owen Sound edition of ” Hometown Hockey ? “
Send your ideas to me at fwallace@bayshorebroadcasting.ca & we’ll see what pops up on the screen for Hometown Hockey
