The Boys Volleyball season in these parts officially ended over the weekend with the Sacred Heart Crusaders competing at the OFSAA ” AA ” Boys Volleyball Championship in Dryden.
Sort of.
Boys Volleyball runs throughout the Winter & Spring thanks to the Big Bruce Volleyball Club based out of Chesley District School.
Believe it or not, and the director Barry Mutrie has a hard time with this, the club is about to begin its 25th season.
The first step is the tryout on Tuesday. December 2nd.
Actually to call it a tryout is a misrepresentation. Nobody is trying out, the participants are simply getting a feel for what’s involved and whether or not they want to commit and participate in the program.
Competitively, there are major values to the club.
On their own, the Big Bruce entries won both the ” A ” and the ” B ” championships in the Southwestern Ontario Youth League last season.
Spurred by that, several members of the CWOSSA Champion Crusaders and another strong entry at Saugeen District Secondary used the experience for an excellent year in Bluewater Volleyball
Any players interested can attend the ” tryout ” December 2nd or call Barry Mutrie at 519-363-3526.
I’m Fred Wallace
