The Knights of Meaford won their first game of the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League in dramatic fashion.
The Knights beat the Grey Highlands Bravehearts 3-2 in overtime in Meaford’s Pink in the Rink game on Thursday.
Cody Craft slammed home a rebound at 1:14 of sudden death overtime to win it for the Knights.
Rainers Bleikss and Beau Drover had the other Meaford goals as the Knights won their first of the season to improve to “1 and 9” on the year.
The goal by Bleikss snapped a goalless drought of 216 minutes and 44 seconds for the Knights
Meaford had been shutout in their three previous games
Egor Samofalov and Josh Beaton scored for the Bravehearts who fall to “4-7-0-2.”
With the point in overtime, Grey Highlands moves to 10 points and shares 8th place with the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks
The game was the Knights’ ” Pink in the Rink ” contest and drew a large crowd to the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
On Friday, the Knights will visit Rama to face the Aces
The Bravehearts are off until Friday November 7th when they host the Knights in a rematch at Markdale.
In the other league game on Thursday, the Tottenham Steam edged the Alliston Coyotes 3-2
