Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
Do you remember where you where 42 years ago ?
September 28th, 1972.
For a lot of hockey fans, the answer will come automatically; watching Paul Henderson score the series winning goal for Team Canada in Game 8 of the Summit Series.
Recently, that Canadian team embarked on a unique concept, called Project 28,800.
Among the driving forces for this initiative is Pat Stapleton, the former Chicago Blackhawk captain.
At the conclusion of our interview session, I asked Pat Stapleton if it was true…..did he take, & does he still hold the puck that Paul Henderson scored the historic goal with ?

Paul Henderson. September 28th, 1972.
I think that puck that Pat Stapleton is holding might be the most valuable piece of memorabilia in Canadian Sports History.
Hopefully, it’s never put up for sale.
I’m Fred Wallace
