Cystinosis.
Do you know what it is ?
I certainly didn’t know, but the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks Hockey Club definitely does.
Just over a year ago, the Winterhawks had a fundraising golf tournament designed to assist the Littles; Chad, a member of the Winterhawk family, his wife, Erin and especially their young daughter, Olivia.
Livy is 4 & 1/2 years of age and continues to deal with cystinosis, an extremely rare genetic disease that essentially crystallizes and kills body cells.
Medication is needed almost hour to hour, and it’s staggering the daily schedule of treatment Olivia needs to combat the disorder.
The golf tournament in 2013 was highly successful, raising in excess of $ 20,000.
Saturday, with a sold out field at Saugeen Golf Club, they’re aiming for a bigger target, hoping to generate 6 digits for the Live A Little Foundation will assist in funding research.
You may not be able to golf, you may not know what cystinosis is, but you can support the ” Love For Liv ” Tree by contacting Erin Little at 519-832-5188.
