Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
It’s a long weekend, it’s a big weekend & I’m sure everyone has plenty of activities on the go.
For me, the event I’m anticipating the most is the annual Dream of Glory Final at Hanover Raceway on Sunday night.
It’s not just the the $ 78,000, nor the barbeque, the carriage rides, the Crippled Ducks Band or the fabulous fireworks that will make the Dream of Glory special again.
This year’s race falls in the heart of the 110th Hanover Homecoming Weekend.
Ten years ago, in one of my favorite all-time local sports moments, the Dream of Glory Final drew a crowd that was estimated to be about 18,000 people.
I remember walking onto the track to interview the race winner, Ray McLean Junior, and we were both overwhelmed by the throng of people on hand; people everywhere you looked.
So Hanover 110 & the Dream of Glory Final are set for Sunday night with the first race set for 6:30 pm.
Hanover Raceway or elsewhere, have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
