Police say the fire at the 80 year old Sauble Beach Trading Post general store and ice cream shop is not suspicious.
Bruce Peninsula OPP Constable Nigel Heels says their investigation into the blaze has determined the cause of the fire was carelessness.
Heels says improperly disposed of spend fireworks touched off the flames in a garbage container next to the building late Friday night.
The flames then spread to the outside walls of the Trading Post.
The OPP say they received several calls from neighbours about the blaze, which broke out around 10 PM on Friday, and did extensive damage to the materials inside the store.
The 80 year old beachside shop off 2nd Avenue South in Sauble Beach was a general store, and ice cream shop.
No one was injured in the fire, and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office will not be investigating.
The owners indicate they plan to rebuild the store.
